Pursuit of Dreams
This book The Alchemist is a timeless tale of self-discovery, following the journey of Santiago, a young shepherd from Spain, as he pursues his personal legend- his life's purpose. Santiago dreams of a treasure at the Egyptian pyramids. This prompts him to leave his comfort zone and come out of his small world.
The Language of the Universe
It is a blend of magical realism with philosophical teachings. Santiago meets a series of mentors through out his journey, the final one being the Alchemist who helps him uncover the truth of the universe. We can see it clearly when a line in page 21 says, "whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it is because the desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth." When the Englishman said," In alchemy, it is called the soul of the world. When you want something with all your heart, that is when you are closest to the soul of the world. It's always a positive force.", all he was trying to talk about was manifestation and law of attraction which can be seen in the book The Secret.
The Power of Faith
The main theme of the story is the theme of following one's dreams despite obstacles with the writer emphasising the fact that the universe conspires to help those pursuing their true purpose. The book also explores other concepts like love, sacrifice and intuition encouraging readers to listen to their hearts and never give up on their dreams as that could be your life's purpose.
Overall, The Alchemist remains a beloved classic, often described as a fable for dreamers. This book can be helpful for self-discovery and to those who feel stuck in their life.
